A Different Kind of Lifeline

I found my way back to the lifelines—
one day at a time.
One day, slowly learning how to adjust.
One day, learning how to heal.
I began to understand the balance of what it means to be a lifeline while also answering the call of the world beyond the bedside. How to hold space without losing myself. How to remain present without becoming depleted.
And then came a deeper question:
How do you pass that wisdom on?
How do you teach someone what it means to be another person’s might—
to be their strength in moments of great need?
How do you show them how to lead with kindness and fierceness?
How to stand fully in the light, not in the shadows—
to speak when others cannot,
to become a voice when silence would be easier?
I learned that being a lifeline does not only shape those I care for.
It shapes those I lead.
Those I teach.
Those I mentor.
So now, this is my intention:
Let me be the strongest version of myself on this path.
Let me be a different kind of lifeline—
one who steadies,
one who guides,
one who reminds others that strength and compassion are not opposites,
but partners.
For those who feel the pull to embark on this journey,
may I help light the way—
not by carrying them,
but by teaching them how to stand.
